The kitchen smelled like holidays at home this morning as Melissa from Fit N’ Fresh Catering made Gougeres or French cheese puffs. They are perfect for holiday appetizers and can be made both savory and sweet. Check out the recipe below!

1 cup of milk
1/4 pound of unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt and pepper
4 extra large eggs at room temperature
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
*** Need a food processor & piping bag
-Preheat oven to 425
-Heat milk and butter in saucepan until just scalded
-Add flour & salt all at once and stir until mixture forms a ball about 2 minutes
-Immediately transfer into food processor
-Add cheese and eggs and pulse until the dough is smooth and thick
-Scoop mixture into a pastry bag, fitted with a large star tip
-Pipe dough into rounds 1 ¼ inches wide and about 1 inch tall
-Lightly press tip on top with a wet finger to smooth top
-Brush gorgeres lightly with egg wash and sprinkle a little more gruyere on top
-Bake until golden and your house smells amazing!
– Fill the cooled gorgeres with anything you’d like…you can try berries, smoked salmon or ham & cheese!
