For today’s “making a difference in Western New York”, we learned more about a group of dedicated citizens that have been working to curb drunk driving in Erie County for more than 30 years.
New York State is tough on those convicted of drunk driving, but research shows that most people are not informed enough about DWI laws and sanctions. John Sullivan heads up Erie County’s Stop-DWI Office, a civilian office which has been working to prevent deaths and injuries due to drunk driving since 1982.
John and his group attend waterfront concerts, beer tastings and similar events in order to keep the public informed of just how serious driving while drunk can be.
Erie County’s Stop-DWI Office will be at Larkin Square’s community corner Tuesday, August 5th during Food Truck Tuesday.
