As disaster services volunteers for the Red Cross of Western New York and the Finger Lakes region, more than 16-hundred brave men and women respon to an average of two house fires a day. Last year alone, they helped more than 12-hundred local families find food and shelter when they suddenly found themsevles in need. Lauren sat down with two disaster services volunteers to hear their inspiring stories about working for the American Red Cross. Though this is not the easiest job, it brings them joy to know they are serving their fellow neighbors in WNY and communities around the country.
If you would like to show your support for the American Red Cross, check out their biggest fundraiser happening this Friday Night, BASH 2014. As a kick off to summer, BASH brings people from all over WNY together to celebrate the Red Cross and their mission with a big party on Delaware Avenue.
