Dr. Nikhil Khushalani from Roswell Park Cancer Institute joined us on the couch this morning to discuss the effects melanoma can have on patients.
Dr. Khushalani says that melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, affecting nearly 75,000 people every year. It is caused by an overexposure to the sun and its harmful Ultra-Violet Rays.
The key to avoiding the delveopment of melanoma, Dr. Khushalani says, is limiting your direct sunlight exposure and being smart about your sunscreen use: do it often and not just once at the start of your day in the sun.
