Preview of the 2014 Buffalo Marathon

Tom Donnelly is the new race director for the 2014 Buffalo Marathon, following the death of longtime race director, John Beishline. He stopped by the Winging It! couch to let us in on all the new things he and his team have in store for race day.

There is a new course, taking runners through never-before-trekked neighborhoods, as downtown construction altered the routes of this year’s course. Plus, there is a new Memorial 5K race honoring Beishline that will take place the morning of May 25th – just prior to the main event!

Also this year, Donnelly says runners can still take part in the full marathon (a hefty 26.2 miles) or the half marathon (a digestible 13.1) – or, even still, be a member of a relay team where each runner completes a designated leg of the race. There is still time to sign up for the Buffalo Marathon – all you have to do is head over to www.buffalomarathon.com and register. Then…we suggest you start training — the guns go off May 25th in downtown!
